AQUIFER PUMPING TEST TECHNIQUES:
PART 3: Constant Rate Pumping Tests

Discover and learn the most up-to-date information about
aquifer pumping test techniques from some of the most
recognized authorities in ground water.

Aquifer Pumping Tests are a key element to site characterization, water resources assessment and remediation system design. Even when you are confident of the geologic conditions, you may have difficulty designing effective aquifer tests, running field equipment or selecting the best available model to analyze the test data. Where do you turn for help with aquifer testing?

Midwest GeoSciences Group & In-Situ, Inc. can help! We have designed a powerful six-module webinar series about pumping test design, field methods and data analysis techniques. This course will highlight key steps for modernizing your aquifer testing from beginning to end.

PART THREE is dedicated to Constant Rate Pumping Tests. Keith Halford will teach the principals of designing and analyzing constant rate pumping tests coupled with presenting key insights to correctly interpreting results from less than ideal site conditions.

Constant rate pumping tests are the key element in aquifer pumping tests that assess the hydraulic nature of the subsurface. Experience shows us that real-life conditions common challenge us as ground water professionals due to lack of understanding, secondary pumping and noise, geologic changes, and equipment management. Participants will learn from Keith Halford's experiences about effectively managing unavoidable challenges and expanding the volume of investigated aquifer.

Each consecutive module builds upon the previous one, beginning with key design insights and then progressing with step drawdown tests for optimizing the constant rate pumping test, then presenting the principals of constant rate pumping tests followed by key elements of recovery testing when the pump is turned off. The webinar series continues with technical insights related to collecting continuous water levels, downloading the data, and then exporting it to analysis software. The last module is a practical and common application to unconfined conditions.

Register now for this exclusive webinar series that presents key insights
about aquifer pumping tests that are found no where else online.

Whether you want to apply aquifer pumping tests to hydrogeologic characterization, water supply development or remediation design, this webinar will provide attendees with information that is not available elsewhere on the web.

A Record of Attendance Form is included free with each webinar for your record keeping and individual PDH verification. We ask your on-site coordinator to return the completed and signed copy of the Form to us following the webinar for (1) maintaining a separate copy as a service to attendees and (2) forwarding to NIU confirming attendance for those who order certificates.

Attendees may also order an official a Course Completion Certificate from Northern Illinois University for a small administrative fee. The Certificate is optional and may be ordered separately following the webinar to confirm your attendance and showcase the certificate on your office wall. Instructions for ordering certificates are given during the webinar.

* This webinar is eligible for the 'BUY THREE, GET THREE' discount; however ANY webinar series discount shown above cannot be combined with it.

Attendees will be invited to actively participate during this live and interactive on-line web seminar. Discussion is planned following the webinar for those who want to continue the session. Bring your questions to the webinar and present them to the instructor and other participants for exploring the best solution.

Instructors Bio

Keith Halford, PhD
Keith has designed and analyzed aquifer tests during more than two decades at many sites in a dozen states. Geologic settings ranged from shallow surficial aquifers in Florida to deep volcanic systems in Nevada. Analyses ranged from Cooper-Jacob interpretation of a single-well test to simultaneous interpretation of multiple pumping-aquifer tests with numerical models.

Developing methods and software for easily isolating pumping signals from environmental fluctuations has been the focus of recent publications. This is because successful aquifer tests depend on detecting pumping signals. The water-level modeling approach allows drawdowns of 0.05 ft to be detected reliably, which greatly expands the scope of investigation.

Keith's areas of expertise are aquifer-testing, borehole geophysics, ground-water simulation, and parameter estimation. His degrees are in petroleum engineering from Louisiana State University.
