Dr. Ed Cey

Dr. Edwin Cey is a professor at the University of Calgary and an accomplished hydrogeologist and researcher dedicated to preferential flow and transport in soils. Much of his published work focuses on improving process understanding in the vadose zone and groundwater systems through applied field, laboratory and numerical experiments. He is currently associate editor for Vadose Zone Journal, and was a member of the scientific advisory committee for the Regional Groundwater Monitoring Evaluation and Reporting (MER) Group for the Athabasca Oil Sands.

Dr. Cey's research is aimed at improving our understanding of the hydrologic processes controlling water and contaminant movement in the shallow subsurface. This involves investigating the complex relationships among geological, chemical, hydrological, and biological systems that influence water and contaminant fluxes.

Dr. Cey received his PhD in earth and environmental science, and his MSc in earth science from the University of Waterloo.
